Rare Antique 1950's Lime Green Coated Swiss Bakelite Wall Telephone
This telephone was made in the 1950 by WEIDMANN of SWITZERLAND for the Swiss RAILWAYS. This model was fitted to the wall at railway stations all over the country . Like any excellent Swiss engineered product, it a has beautifully crafted internal mechanism. Please see the picture below. The body in excellent condition. The chrome bells have a beautiful loud ringing sound. This phone has an unusual feature that allows you to hang the telephone receiver to a hook under the body if you want to walk away during a call without hanging up.
The bakelite phone has been recoated professionally with high quality hard wearing green enamelled paint similar to what is used in car body workshops.
This unusually shaped telephone was made in Switzerland around 1950s. It is in excellent condition and has a wonderful old ring for incoming calls.
Please note that this is an original phone is 70/80 years old and will have some wear and tear.
All our antique telephones are fully stripped down, polished & rewired with hand platted cords in our workshop near Oxford , England. The phones have all original fittings inside and we try to keep all the original parts wherever possible. They come fitted with a standard British connection & all International customers ( USA, Europe, Asia Etc) will be provided with a RJ11 adapter, so the customer can use the phone on any fixed analogue telephone landline.
