1940's English GPO ( General Post Office ) Black Bakelite #300 Series Desk Telephone Bell On/Off with a Tray
This rare original antique 1940s GPO ( General Post office ) British black bakelite telephone with the ON/OFF buttons feature. It has been converted and can be used today in the UK and all over the worldwide . They were also called the #300 series. This telephone has a serial number( 164 55 ) under the handset. It is in excellent condition for its age. This is the best example of a rare model of the British 300 series telephone.
Dimensions are 15 cm wide, 19 cm depth, 15 cm heigh & weighs Please note that this is an original phone from the 1940s, and will have some wear and tear.

The On/OFF buttons work , the old bell ringer can be switched off when not required eg: when sleeping or watching TV etc.
Ahura Collectables have supplied and maintain a number of these phones for the exclusive Arts Club Hotel in Dover Street, London. On each floor just outside the lift on the lobby wall hangs one of the wonderful phones Siemens Wall phones. In each of the magnificent bedroom suites there are two 1940s GPO British black bakelite telephones, one on the desk table in the lounge and another on the bedside table.
All our antique telephones are fully stripped down, polished & rewired with hand platted cords in our workshop near Oxford , England. The phones have all original fittings inside and we try to keep all the original parts wherever possible. They come fitted with a standard British connection & all International customers ( USA, Europe, Asia Etc) will be provided with a RJ11 adapter, so the customer can use the phone on any fixed analogue telephone line.
